Although the finish seems to be lighter sunburst - typical of 37s not 27s, I would still put my money on Style 27 around end of 1934.. I was simply interested to understand what the guitar model could have been As Michael speculates, the guitar was almost certainly a rescued bitsa. 3

Just out of curiousity, you wouldnt happen to know the serial of Rainers Duolian as well.. Rainer was a guitar repairman in the Chicago Store in Tuscon He was into renovating old instruments, and from all accounts was more interested in tone than originality.. Ive been told it is likely a 1937 model, but I have no way of knowing what actual model it might be, or whether this information is at all accurate.. By this date the 27 would NOT have the three small holes between the top grills - as you can see the pickup is covering up the area so we cant be sure If it was made later around 1937 it would most probably be a Regal.. The problem with Dobros in photographs is that they all look so similar Mark Makin may be able tell us more from that serial number Shine On Michael. 5
